Get Started!

Let's make this blog look a little more interesting.  Here's your DAY ONE assignment (HCE): customize this blog.  Follow these directions and you're finished.  Come back tomorrow for the REAL work!  Ha.

You will need to go to the dashboard of this blog to add things to your blog.  You can find it by logging into www.blogger.com (or going through the email that I sent you)  The dashboard looks like this (click to make it bigger):

On the lefthand side, there's a list of options.  You will choose Layout (near the bottom).

Open another window and go find a background here:

Click the "Widened" tab:

Scroll through the backgrounds until you find one you like.  Click "Install" and the directions will pop up on the screen.  Go to your dashboard and follow the directions.  They will look like this:

When you get to step #4 - a box pops up like this one: 

Step #5 - HTML/JavaScript is the 11th gadget down the list.  

On step #6, you don't need a title, click in the "content" box and just press Ctrl V.  It will put the code into the box.  

And you're finished!  I'll know you finished because the background on the blog will be finished!  You will be marked out of 5.  (If you change the background correctly, you'll get 5/5)

Want bonus marks?  Play around with other elements of the Layout.  Can you add a gadget?  Add a photo to the header?  Try it!
