Pick a topic that you know lots about or that you enjoy. Now watch this little video that a grade 8 student made about writing a proper paragraph:

Haha.
Write a paragraph of at least 7 sentences total that includes an opening sentence, 4 or 5 details that go with the opening, and then a concluding sentence that wraps it all up. The concluding sentence usually restates your opening sentence in a different way. (the final sentences is NOT "And that is the end of my paragraph.") ;)
Don't forget to RE-READ it and correct any mistakes before sending it!

Our Law Courts Field Trip
It was very cool to actually be inside a court room last week - I had never been to a Law Courts before. Here a a couple ideas of things you could do from that field trip.
MAIN ASSIGNMENT CHOICES (choose ONE of these two):
> write a summary of what we did and saw while at the Law Courts - this needs to be at least 7 - 8 sentences with good grammar. I will be looking for complete sentences with correct punctuation.
> write a paragraph about what you think the judge meant when he said, "I am not always RIGHT but I am always FAIR."
IF YOU WANT BONUS POINTS (for going above and beyond) - choose one of these following extra activities:
> make a list of at least 8 differences between the Provincial Court and the Supreme Court that we saw (if you can't remember 8, do some online research)
> write a descriptive paragraph as though you were a judge, lawyer, or prisoner and what you see from your seat in the courtroom.
> draw a diagram (using circles for seats and rectangles for desks/tables) and label all the people in a court room. Include judge, crown council, defense council, witness, accused, and court clerk.
