Law? What's Law?

This blog will be covering LA, HCE, and also some SS.  In preparation for the field trip to the Chilliwack Law Courts on May 1st, the next couple assignments will be about Canada's justice system. Keep reading your novel, making your list of foods, cooking, and keep me posted on when you finish Chamber of Secrets.

Where did the idea of laws come from?  Read the 3 pages about the History of Law that I emailed to your mom.  (Or get the link here: http://lawlessons.ca/sites/default/files/handouts/Handout-1-1-1.pdf ) It would be great if you could read it WITH your mom - hard reading is always good to chat about with someone else.

After reading, you have a choice.  Choose one of the following:

1) You can go to this link (http://lawlessons.ca/sites/default/files/handouts/Handout-1-1-2.pdf ) and print out some questions to answer about the above reading.  Scan or take a photo of your written answers and email them to me.

OR

2) Research the earliest laws of either China or India and write at least two paragraphs describing your findings.

This reading and ONE of these assignments is due Thursday afternoon (April 25).  Both will be marked out of /15.  Want to go above and beyond for bonus marks?  Do both assignments!
